What does Mugler Alien smell like?
Alien by Mugler launched in 2005 on a note list you can read in one breath. Jasmine sambac opens it, cashmeran sits at its heart, and amber lies underneath. Its accords are white floral and amber, and nothing else.
With only three notes listed, each tier holds a single one.
That short pyramid helps when you read a clone's list. Either the clone keeps the jasmine, cashmeran and amber trio, or it adds notes Alien does not list, and every addition is a place where the two can part.
Alien or Alien Extraintense?
Mugler also makes Alien Extraintense, launched in 2025 and stocked by 10ML too. It is a different build: petitgrain on top, tuberose and jasmine in the heart, then vanilla, cashmeran and amberwood. Every Parfumo vote quoted in this guide compares a pick with the 2005 Alien, so read the picks as alternatives to that one.
| Version | Launched | Notes in our catalogue | Picks compared with it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alien | 2005 | Jasmine sambac, cashmeran, amber | All six |
| Alien Extraintense | 2025 | Petitgrain, tuberose, jasmine, vanilla, cashmeran, amberwood | None |

Best overall: Violet
Violet by One Avenue is our overall pick on two pieces of evidence and nothing more. On Parfumo's comparison page, all but three Parfumo voters judge it similar to Alien, and the listing on that page names jasmine sambac, cashmeran and amber: Alien's three notes, with nothing added. Elixir, below, wins a slightly higher share of the vote, but Parfumo members there rate its longevity and sillage well below Alien's.
No member has written up the pair. Where the two part is not on record; only your skin can settle it.
It suits someone who wants the plainest list set against Alien's and will judge everything else by wearing it. We found no EU list price for One Avenue's bottle when prices were checked. Basis: Parfumo's vote and note table only.

Softer take: Elixir
Elixir by La Rive has the highest share of agreement of the six. On Parfumo's comparison page, only three of those voting see no likeness to Alien.
The main difference Parfumo members there record is performance: they rate Elixir's longevity and sillage well below Alien's, which is why it sits here as the softer take. We put no hours on either, since your skin decides that.
It suits someone who wants the Alien style in a big bottle and would welcome a quieter version, going by how Parfumo members rate it. Basis: Parfumo's comparison vote and how its members rate performance there.

Lowest price: Mon Amour
Mon Amour by Câline has the lowest bottle price we found. Its Parfumo comparison page also draws a large turnout, and of those voting, close to nine in ten see a likeness to Alien.
The main difference is in the list. Parfumo's listing adds aniseed, apple, blackcurrant, tonka and vanilla to the Alien frame, and members there describe it as powdery and creamy.
It suits someone curious about the Alien style who wants the smallest spend and does not mind extra fruit and vanilla on paper. Basis: Parfumo's vote, note table and members' descriptions.

Fresher take: Cashmere Kumquat
Cashmere Kumquat by Korres comes at Alien from the citrus side. On Parfumo's comparison page, about three in four of those voting see a likeness.
Its listing opens on kumquat, mandarin and orange over jasmine and orange blossom, and members there file it as fruity and fresh. The main difference is that citrus top, which Alien's list does not have.
It suits someone who likes the jasmine idea but wants a citrus start in front of it. Basis: Parfumo's vote, note table and its members' classification.

Sweeter take: Sacrifice for Her
Seven in eight Parfumo voters back Sacrifice for Her by Ajmal as similar to Alien on its comparison page. Its listing puts vanilla and orange blossom in the heart, over amber and musk.
Going by the lists, the main difference is the vanilla: Alien lists none, and here it sits at the centre. Both lists end on amber.
It suits someone who wants Alien's amber with vanilla written into the heart. Basis: Parfumo's vote and the note table on that page.

Premium alternative: Armani Privé Rouge Malachite
Armani Privé Rouge Malachite by Giorgio Armani is not a clone. It is a tuberose-led scent from the Armani Privé line, with jasmine sambac, cashmere wood and amber in its listing, and it appears here as a related high-end white floral rather than a substitute.
Parfumo voters are split on it. On its comparison page, just over half find it similar to Alien. The main difference is the tuberose, which Alien does not list.
It suits someone who loves Alien's jasmine and amber and would rather move to a white floral built on tuberose than buy a stand-in. We found no EU list price for it on 2 October 2026, so its price cell is blank. Basis: Parfumo's vote and the note table.

What the votes do and do not tell you
Every pick in this guide rests on Parfumo's comparison votes and note tables; no member's written comparison of a clone with Alien is quoted. A vote counts how many people saw a likeness. It does not say where the two part.
Elixir is the one pick where members rated a difference against Alien, on staying power and sillage. For the other five, note lists and Parfumo's classifications are the only clues to the gap, and your own skin is the test that settles it.
Clone bottle or a 10ml decant of Alien?
Per ml, the clone bottles win: every pick with a euro price comes in under Alien per ml, whatever the size. A 10ml decant of Alien is €25.74, or €2.57/ml, and the 30ml is €66.60 (€2.22/ml).
The decant's case is the original itself. A 3ml of Alien costs €8.91 and holds around 60 sprays: a week of the real jasmine and amber next to whichever pick tempts you. Stay with it, and the 10ml decant holds around 200 sprays, the 30ml around 600. The Extraintense costs €9.63 in 3ml, so both Mugler versions can share one week. For the wider maths, see the price per ml index, and weigh a small size against a whole bottle with this decant guide.
Authentic perfumes with Alien's jasmine and amber
Three originals in the catalogue share Alien's jasmine and amber and build something of their own around them. Prada Paradoxe by Prada sets jasmine sambac beside neroli and orange blossom, with tangerine, bergamot and pear on top and bourbon vanilla, amber, white musk and benzoin below. Good Girl by Carolina Herrera joins jasmine sambac to tuberose, opens on almond and coffee, and ends on tonka, cacao, amber and cashmere wood. Good Girl Gone Bad by By Kilian takes the tuberose route, with jasmine, narcissus and osmanthus over cedar, vetiver and amber.
Each is sold in 3ml, so you can wear two of them with Alien in one week. Our guides to Prada Paradoxe dupes, Good Girl dupes and Flowerbomb dupes cover the neighbouring styles.
How to test a dupe
With three notes to go on, an Alien test is a jasmine, cashmeran and amber test. Wear the original on one wrist and the pick on the other, or give each a day to itself. Check the jasmine in the first minutes, the cashmeran middle once the top has faded, and the amber late in the day. With Elixir, note when each one fades from your skin, since that is the gap Parfumo members flagged.
A 3ml of Alien covers that week. Never bought a small size before? Start with what a perfume decant is and then how a small size replaces a blind buy.
Clone or original? What to know first
- Can I get a Mugler Alien sample to wear before trying a dupe?
- Yes: a 3ml decant of Alien, poured from the original bottle, holds around 60 sprays and costs €8.91 at 10ML. A week of wearing it beside a clone tells you more than any vote. The 10ml (around 200 sprays) and 30ml (around 600) follow if it stays your choice.
- Which Mugler Alien dupe leads this guide, and why?
- Violet by One Avenue. Its listed notes are jasmine sambac, cashmeran and amber, the three Alien lists, and all but three voters on its Parfumo comparison page judge it similar. Elixir by La Rive wins a slightly higher share, but Parfumo members there rate its longevity and sillage well below Alien's.
- Why is Elixir by La Rive the softer take rather than the lead pick?
- Because Parfumo members there rate its longevity and sillage well below Alien's. It still has the highest share of agreement of the six: only three voters on its Parfumo comparison page see no likeness to Alien.
- Are these alien perfume dupes aimed at Alien or Alien Extraintense?
- At the original Alien: every Parfumo vote quoted here compares a pick with the 2005 Alien, not the 2025 Extraintense. The Extraintense adds petitgrain, tuberose, vanilla and amberwood, so a likeness to one is no promise of a likeness to the other.
- How does a Mugler Alien 10ml compare per ml with a clone bottle?
- The clone bottles cost less per ml: each pick with a euro price undercuts Alien per ml in every size. A 10ml decant of Alien is €25.74, or €2.57/ml, for around 200 sprays of the original.
- Which perfumes like Mugler Alien does 10ML sell as originals?
- Prada Paradoxe, Good Girl by Carolina Herrera and Good Girl Gone Bad by By Kilian. Paradoxe and Good Girl both list jasmine sambac and amber; Good Girl Gone Bad lists jasmine and amber alongside tuberose.
